Tickets to Nowhere

In the 1920’s, the cartoonist George Harriman created the comic strip, Krazy Kat. For those of us who love cartoon art, Krazy Kat is the ultimate joyful expression. It is hilarious, creative, poignant, and tender. Through his sweet depiction of the gender indistinct characters, Herriman created a story 100 years ahead of its time.

The Tickets to Nowhere bracelet is an homage to Krazy Kat. It uses an imaginary landscape with an indistinct horizon and moving, floating forms from one frame to the next. In this piece, the ordinary raffle style “tickets” create the cartoon panels.
