Conscious Creation

It is of the highest importance to create work sustainably. As a “slow jewelry” studio, we are in a position to do that in a way that large production houses could never. Quality over quantity is at the core of our ethos as we producing a low volume of the highest quality with the finest materials to create pieces that are already being passed down through the generations. Our work will last, will stand the test of time, and will always be worth repairing.

We are specifically conscious of where our resources come from, often using recycled metal and stones. Our acclaimed Wildflower Collection is made using 100% Fairmined gold. We also repurpose a significant amount of stones, using Old Mine, Old European, and Antique Cushion Cut diamonds not only because we believe in using existing materials, but because hand cut stones will always be more interesting and beautiful than modern production line stones. Tim McClelland

Founder, designer, head jeweler, prev. in collaboration with McTeigue & McClelland Jewelers).

Tim McClelland (Detroit, 1957) has been entranced by the luminosity and malleability of metal since his youth. He began studying metalworking in high school, taking night jewelry making night classes at Cranbrook Institute of Science. This foray was followed by a summer at Haystack Mountain School and, in 1975, an undergraduate degree from Boston University’s Program in Artisanry. In conjunction with his schooling Tim worked at Boston’s Shreeve Crump & Low as a bench jeweler. After school he was drawn to New York where he became a freelance jeweler for auction houses and gained a close familiarity with the stylistic and technical intricacies of master jewelers like Rene Lalique, Georg Jensen, Faberge, and Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Moving to the Berkshire Hills with a young family in 1996 Tim co-founded McTeigue & McClelland Jewelers with stone dealer Walter McTeigue, where he was head jeweler and designer for 23 years. In this span he innovated a unique style of jewelry paying homage to the classics, the ancient masters, and the stunning natural landscape of the Berkshires. Tim’s work and style have become synonymous with the highest quality of materials, artistry, and workmanship drawing customers from across the country and globe.

In 2020 after McTeigue & McClelland closed its doors, Tim has continued his work as a fine jeweler to the community and to the world here at TW McClelland & Daughters.
